My name is Mandy Summers-Smith and I have been blessed to have lived in many parts of our beautiful country. My father was an Air Force officer & I grew up in Arizona as a child, attended high school in the DC/Baltimore area & then went on to study at Marymount College in New York, Queen Mary College in England and La Universidad of Salamanca in Spain. While studying in Europe, I developed a deep love of art, architecture and design. My Senior year, I was accepted into a working internship program at the United Nations in Manhattan and finally graduated with dual bachelor's degrees in International Business and Political Science and a minor in Spanish.
I began my career in public relations & accounting & then committed to staying at home once my beautiful children were born. I must confess, I missed being in the workforce, and post divorce, I was determined to pursue a flexible career that would allow me to provide for, and still spend time with my amazing son & daughter. So, I went back to school to study Interior Design & earned my certification. Fortunately, I found a job immediately in my new chosen field & worked for a small firm that did both residential and commercial Interior Design. In 2008, I took an enormous leap of faith and decided to go into business for myself. I fell in love with a double space at the Old Cotton Mill in Lexington and began restoring it. By 2013, I had outgrown that space & I took yet another leap of faith & rented the entire plaza at 202 West Main Street in Lexington. I completely renovated that building too & have loved the result! My business has grown & thrived in our current location. I have added the amazing Meloney Stuckey, the awesome Kelly Chaffins as well as 48 other talented artisans & exhibitors to the gallery. Most recently, in December of 2017, I had the honor of marrying Mr. Gregory Smith & appreciate all the love & support he gives me & our entire M Gallery family.
